Lux
It would be fair to say that Lux wasn’t my first love in League of Legends, that honour goes to Irelia, and whilst I currently Zyra main in Twisted Treeline, when it comes to Summoners Rift Lux will always be my true love.
I kind of set my sights on her at level 25 or so, once my initiation period into Lol and position testing ended and I settled on AP caster mid as my ‘main’ position (Irelia top notwithstanding). I think I may have been on the receiving end of a Lux snowball and my takehome from that game was an awestruck “wow!”
Lux’s skill set caught my eye, a very reasonable set of tools for lane clear and harass, with a skill-shot ulti and a burst potential that blew me away at how good it was. You feed Lux at your own peril.
I’ve been playing League of Legends now since Season 3 (so around the start of 2013). I wouldn’t say that I am particularly good at it, to be fair it’s more a casual thing for me, I play mainly 3-man with a couple of friends but little more, put it this way I won’t be winning any money at an e-sports tournament any time soon that’s for sure.
Having said that I want to get back into it, start playing 5 man regularly, and eventually solo queue, and for me that means only one champion, Luxanna Crownguard.
What this is about
So as I have said my game rating (elo) is nothing to write home about, though I do consider myself reasonably proficient, and with a little practice (well a lot of practice) and some science I think I may be able to get somewhere, but in doing so I think it would be easier to accomplish with a champion I love to play hence this project.
My plan is simple. A little bit of study combined with 50 games of standard 5 man. Mechanically my play is reasonably sound, though there’s always room for improvement, creep score being one area that needs work. I plan to write about my experiences getting back in the groove with Lux and then after coming up with a strategy and a short list for other positions (I can jungle, top and adc to some extent but Its not really been a focus, my support is usually reasonable, mid is my power game though). Once those games are out of the way I intend to hit Solo queue and see where Im at.
I am planning on recording the games, revising my build knowledge (I can see me opting for Luden’s for some crazy jukes), though Ive got a pretty sharp build order anyway, but needless to say research and practice is what these first 50 games are all about anyway.
I’m also hoping this mini project will make me start to like league again also. I sort of got disillusioned with it last year, more due to the unfair way lol handles ranked game matching, in Twisted Treeline at least, but also because I’d gone through a lot of games in a short period of time and consequently burnt out on it. Needless to say I’ll take these ones in my stride, though I don’t think I could ever burn out on Luxxy.
